Barrie House uses natural oils in flavored coffees that are extracted from a variety of sources such as vanilla beans, cocoa beans, and various nuts and berries. Cinnamon, clove, and chicory are also used in a variety of coffees.
Flavors are typically added to roasted beans before they are ground. The beans are placed in a large mixer which is specially designed to gently tumble the beans without damaging them. The flavors are introduced via a pressurized spray mechanism that breaks the oils into tiny droplets and allows for more effective mixing. The essence of oils are added to the beans very gradually to prevent highly concentrated flavor areas called hot spots. The beans are agitated for a set amount of time to evenly distribute the flavor.
Flavored coffees must be activated by a sweetener in order to taste them, otherwise you will be taking in the flavor as an aroma.

Maybe I had too much of an imaginary build-up, but the Product's flavorings didn't leave me in a breakfast dream state. As plain coffee, it was just fine. No problems to complain about in terms of speed of delivery, or state of the product when received. I needed more distinct French Toast flavor to make it's way through, some hint of maple syrup, or a hint of bacon; but this coffee didn't wake me up the way I had hoped . . . . .

This coffee is just what I was looking for as an alternative to the hard to find Green Mountain variety. It tastes very similar and is just as delicious as GM. Barrie House also included 2 samples and a tumbler with my bag of coffee which I'm not sure will come with every order but it's a nice incentive to try 2 other flavors - I will definitely be buying from them again, especially since it came a week faster than the estimate and was very affordable
