When I bought this instant it was because I was so disappointed with the currently available instants in our local supermarkets. Based on other reviews of this I expected it to be superior to them. There is nothing special in flavor that I can taste.I can recall buying the early freeze dried Tasters Choice instant. That was really better than any but the rediculously costly Starbucks instant ($1 a cup). I also bought the other Douwe Egberts instant and haven't tried it. I am hoping for something that doesn't taste like ordinary instant.

I was having dinner at a restaurant tonight and ordered coffee. When the waitress set the cup down, the aroma wafted under my nose and I breathed it in deeply. "Oh that's wonderful!" I said to the waitress even before tasting the coffee. Oh my, what an amazing taste! It tasted as good as it smelled. This morning I wrote a review about Starbucks' coffee and mentioned how their Breakfast Blend was my favorite coffee and lamented that they didn't sell it by the bag. Well this coffee tops the Breakfast Blend and any other Starbucks' coffee. It really does taste and smell wonderful - rich, smooth and very flavorful. For the first time ever, I asked a waitress what brand of coffee did the restaurant use. She told me the name of it and then she said it was instant coffee. "No way!" I shouted. It tasted and smelled freshly brewed. Right then and there I looked up the coffee brand on my iPod and sure enough they sell instant coffees: Douwe Egberts' Aroma Rood (medium roast), Pure Gold (medium roast), and Pure Indulgence (dark roast). Although I recently purchased a large quantity of Starbucks' instant coffee sticks, I'm going to purchase Douwe Egbert's instant coffee in the jar to have in the mornings at home and use the Starbucks at the office. I still have that flavor on my palette. I could not stop drinking the coffee. I had to literally cut myself off! So good!
